Basic Ingredients:
Vitamoor’s complete line of products for skin and hair care as well as for wellness and relaxation makes full use of the wonderfully therapeutic properties of Moor.
Some of the products contain only pure Austrian deep Moor. Others are prepared using a base of Moor water. This water is extracted from the Moor by a process of filtration, which takes several weeks to complete. It contains most of the Moor’s water-soluble nutrients and is therefore especially nourishing for the skin and body.
A range of potent, botanical ingredients including natural emulsifiers, humic acids, nourishing oils, herbal extracts, stimulating essences, and other active substances are refined in our facility in Vancouver, BC, to produce an exquisite natural mixture that works in synergy with the pure Moor products.
All Vitamoor products are made from 100% natural ingredients, contain no artificial preservatives, and are not tested on animals.
Natural Preservative System / Shelf Life:
The natural preservative system that we use is based on ionic silver. Silver ions have long been known to have strong inhibitory and bactericidal effects as well as a wide range of antimicrobial activities. The silver ions react with proteins in the bacteria causing them to break down. In laboratory tests silver ions cause a complete destruction of microorganisms within a very short time. Ionic silver is completely safe for topical use. This effective preservative system works without any added chemical preservative and is generally well tolerated by allergy sufferers.
Thanks to this natural preservative system, Vitamoor products have a very long shelf life. Many products can be stored unopened for several years without losing their potency. Vitamoor products, however, are never pre-stocked. They are made fresh upon receipt of order and usually reach the customer no later than 6 months from the time of production. The manufacturer’s freshness guarantee is 2 years from production date.
Even after being opened, Vitamoor products can be used safely for a very long time. However, it is recommended that they be used within about 12-14 weeks because evaporation of the liquid ingredients could result in a thickening of the product over a longer period of time. Containers should always be closed properly after each use.

Ingredients That We Do Not Use:
The words “organic” and “natural” are often used very loosely, or are simply misused. Hence many synthetic chemical substances that are widely used in conventional skin care products are unfortunately often also found in so-called natural products. Sometimes these ingredients are not even shown on the packaging. For instance, when a manufacturer buys natural products that are then chemically preserved by the distributor, the manufacturer can then legally declare that he has not used any chemical additives, yet his products do contain them by the time they are used by the consumer.
Vitamoor has taken steps to overcome this widespread problem of inaccurate labeling of so-called “natural products" for skin-care and general wellness.
We unequivocally gaurantee that all Vitamoor products, including the raw and primary ingredients, do not contain any synthetic additives whatsoever and are made exclusively from pure, natural sources; the single exception is our Sunblock, in which the additives are necessary for the absorption of UV rays -- but we are up front and clear about this, because we deeply believe that you, the customer, should have the righ to make an informed decision about what's best for you.
The following is a list of frequently used synthetic chemicals that are known to have a range of undesirable or harmful side effects. These substances are often used in skin care and body care products, and unfortunately also in products touted as “natural” or “organic.” Vitamoor products do not contain any of these!
- Sodium laureth sulfate (also known as sodium laurel sulfate or sodium lauryl sulfate) - a lathering agent, which can be obtained from coconut oil and therefore sometimes features as “natural” or “organic”. It is found in cleansing creams, shampoos, bath additives, liquid soaps, toners, toothpaste, soap, and some dietary supplements. It is harmful to the hair, heart, liver, lungs, eyes and brain, has been shown to cause cancer in laboratory testing, and may impair the immune system. It is perhaps the most dangerous ingredient found in personal care products.
- Mineral oil - is used to smooth and soften the skin. It is found in baby oils, skin creams, sun care products, massage oils, and body lotions. It is derived from petroleum. It dehydrates the skin, prevents it from breathing, weakens its immune defense, locks in toxins and wastes and hence promotes acne and other skin irritations, and also causes the skin to age prematurely.
- Propylene glycol - a surfactant (or wetting agent) and solvent. This ingredient is the main active agent in anti-freeze. There is no difference between industrial propylene glycol and the one found in personal care products: Industrial propylene glycol is used to dissolve protein and cellular structures (which the skin consists of), yet it is found in most lotions, toners, creams, and hair care products. This chemical derivative is often used in products with “healing” properties. The truth is in fact the opposite, as it disrupts and slows down the body’s own healing process. This ingredient causes contact dermatitis, kidney damage, and liver abnormalities. Even a minimal dose harms the cell membranes and dehydrates the skin, damages DNA, and hampers healthy cell growth in humans.
- DMDM hydantoin, diazolidinyl urea, and imidazolidinyl urea – are preservatives that release formaldehyde. It is estimated that 20 percent of those who have been exposed to this chemical experience an allergic reaction. Exposure to formaldehyde can cause joint pain, headaches, chest pains, depression, ear infections, chronic fatigue, dizziness, and insomnia. In lab tests, formaldehyde has caused cancer and damaged DNA. Formaldehyde is a known sensitizer. Imidazolidinyl urea may also cause contact dermatitis or allergies.
- Paraben (preceded by the prefixes methyl-, propyl-, butyl-, or ethyl-) - are extremely toxic chemicals used as preservatives in almost all personal care products. These can cause skin rashes, allergies, and dermatitis. They can also cause hormonal imbalances that can lead to breast cancer.
- Polyethylene glycol (PEG) - used in cleaners to remove oil, grease, and cosmetic thickeners. The number after “PEG” refers to the molecular weight, which influences the substance’s properties. Due to their potency, PEGs are often used as cleaning agents in corrosive oven cleaners, yet PEGs are found in many cosmetic products. Aside from being known to cause cancer, they also destroy the skin’s own natural moisture protection, which in turn weakens the immune system.
- Synthetic colors - made from coal, these colors are used extensively in personal care products. Coal tar colors have been found to cause cancer in animals, and many people experience allergic reactions like skin irritation and contact dermatitis. They are listed as FD&C or D&C, followed by a color and a number. Example: FD&C Red No. 6, or D&C Green No. 6.
- Synthetic fragrances - are the most common ingredients found in personal care products. The word “Fragrance" on a label can indicate the presence of up to 4,000 separate ingredients. Most or all of them are usually synthetic. Symptoms reported to the FDA have included headaches, dizziness, rashes, skin discoloration, violent coughing and vomiting, and allergic skin irritation. Clinical observations by medical doctors have shown that exposure to fragrances can affect the central nervous system, causing depression, hyperactivity, irritability, inability to cope, and other behavioral changes. Fragrance is a known trigger of asthma and many of the compounds in fragrance are suspected or proven carcinogens.
